PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device capable of certainly performing a printing process in an off-contact mode. SOLUTION: This printing device comprises a pair of clamping pieces 31a and 31b which hold/retain a substrate W from both sides, a stencil 51 positioned above the substrate W retained by the clamping pieces 31a and 31b, and a squeegee 61 for spreadably applying a paste S to the substrate W from the surface of the stencil 51 by sliding the squeegee 61 over the stencil 51. In addition, clamping edges 32 and 32 to be brought into contact under pressure with a side edge part of the substrate W as it is retained, are installed on the inner side edge parts of the clamping pieces 31a and 31b. Further, spacer pieces 321 and 321 protruding inwardly, are installed on the upper end parts of the clamping edges 32 and 32. In the state that the stencil 51 is positioned on the substrate W retained by the clamping pieces 31a and 31b, the spacer pieces 321 and 321 are interposed between the substrate W and the stencil 51 and thus a gap M is formed in between.
