PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering position adjustment device and a steering position adjustment method capable of previously preventing the generation of a play in steering. SOLUTION: The steering position adjustment device is provided with a driver load detection means for detecting forward/rearward force Fh by a driver (step S9, step S15); a play generation forecasting means for forecasting generation of the play of a steering post based on the forward/rearward force Fh of the driver (step S17); and a play prevention control means for driving/controlling a steering position driving means so as to eliminate the play when generation of the play is forecasted (step S18).
