PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double-layer capacitor which is reliable enough to improve the failure rate of liquid leakage during manufacture of electric double-layer capacitor elements, increase ESR characteristics when it is used at high temperature and suppress the reduction of electrostatic capacity. SOLUTION: The electric double-layer capacitor is comprised of a pair of polarizable electrodes facing each other with a porous separator 2 impregnated with a water-soluble electrolyte solution, and gaskets 4 provided around a collector 3 being in contact the polarizable electrode 1 by the opposite surface to the separator 2 and the polarizable 1. The capacitor is formed of a single layer or a plurality of stacked layers. The gasket 4 formed of a film having thermoplasticity is adhered to the collector 3 and the separator 2, thereby melting a resin itself with thermoplasticity constituting the gasket 4 and adhering it integrally. In addition, the external dimension of the separator 2 is made to be more than that of the polarizable electrode and less than that of the collector in advance, and the inner diameter of the gasket is determined according to the external dimension of the separator and that of the polarizable electrode.
