PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for cutting a spun yarn, without requiring a large-scale installation, capable of cutting a thick yarn which cannot be cut by only pushing down a cantilever plate, and capable of preventing the yarn from coiling around a roll caused by abnormality of winding; and to provide a cutting method. SOLUTION: The device for cutting the spun yarn cuts the spun yarn by installing a cantilever swingable plate in one of chimney side plates installed in both sides based on the yarn spun from one spinning cap, supporting the plate by a stopper, enabling the stopper to act at the abnormality such as yarn break so as to push down the plate so that the spun yarn may be cut between the plate and a receiving table for receiving the plate installed in the other chimney-side plate. A fixing tool for fixing the plate and the receiving table is fixed to one or both of the plate and the receiving table. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
