PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color reproduction method and apparatus therefor in which an input signal value can be efficiently and highly accurately reproduced into an output signal value within a color gamut of output equipment. SOLUTION: Based on a conversion table for converting an input signal into an output signal, it is determined whether or not the input signal of a processing object is out of a color reproduction range of an output device. If the input signal of the processing object is out of the color reproduction range of the output device as a result of the determination, based on a main component of the input signal of the processing object, the input signal of the processing object is mapped in a color within the color reproduction range of the output device.
