The stove top has two cooking points (2, 3) connectable with one another, where each cooking point include an operating unit. The operating unit of the cooking point (2) is actuated to activate the switching operation of the cooking point, in a switching position. The operating unit of the cooking point (3) adjusts the total power level for the both cooking points. An intermediate cooking zone (5) is provided between the cookeries. An independent claim is also included for a method of connecting one heating unit to another heating unit for a household appliance.
