The device has an electrode and a counter electrode (3) that are connected to a high voltage source (7), where a plasma is produced between the electrode and an area (1) e.g. nail of a body part (6) to be treated. The area is electrically connected with the electrode (3). The electrode (3) is designed as an electrically conducting hand supporting area for the body part to be treated or as a part of the supporting area. The electrode (3) is made of material such as steel, aluminum or copper. The electrode is a part of gloves or grasping instruments.
