IMPROVED PARTIALLY ORIENTED NYLON YARN AND PROCESS

A sheath-core filament spun at least 2200 MPM is characterised in that it has a nylon 66 sheath component surrounding a polymeric core component, the sheath component having a higher melt viscosity (at 284≦̸C) than the core component. Also, claimed are; (i) a process for spinning the sheath core filament; and (ii) prodn. of a textured yarn comprising simultaneously drawing and friction-twist texturing the filament. The filaments have high RV sheaths and low RV cores. Exceptional crimp developement is achieved in the resulting textured yarn.
