<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a formation method for forming the electrode of a lead-acid battery capable of discharging a large current. <P>SOLUTION: In the formation process for manufacturing the lead-acid battery, electrolysis is made while an organic polymer constituent for increasing the hydrogen overvoltage of a negative electrode is allowed to be present by 0.01-5 wt.% in an electrolyte, thus making metal lead generated in the negative electrode porous, greatly increasing the surface area of the negative electrode active material, and hence discharging a large current.
