<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily control treatment regardless of causes of bulking, to lower the SVI in a short period of time and to keep the effect continuously. <P>SOLUTION: This bulking preventing agent is an agent for preventing the bulking of activated sludge which is a mixture of a compound expressed by a general formula R<SB>2</SB>-Y with a compound containing at least a cationic group.
