PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection device capable of simplifying its wiring structure. SOLUTION: This position detection device (1) performs position detection by propagating an elastic wave on a contact surface, and detecting a change in the state of the elastic wave occurring when an object touches the contact surface, and is provided with a substrate (2), a group of first transmitting elements (10) arranged along a first direction on the substrate and comprising a plurality of parallel-connected first transmitting elements (XT1, XT2, XT3) for elastic wave transmission, and a group of first receiving elements (30) made to correspond one to one individually to the plurality of first transmitting elements, arranged being separated from the group of the first transmitting elements along the first direction on the substrate and comprising a plurality of parallel-connected first receiving elements (XR1, XR2, XR3) for elastic wave reception. In the position detection device, the group of the first transmitting elements and the group of the first receiving elements are so configured as to have different resonance frequencies for each pair of the first transmitting elements and the first receiving elements made to correspond to each other.
