TWISTED YARN AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING TWISTED YARN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a twisted yarn as a fiber structure useful as a substrate for cell culture and a method for producing the twisted yarn. SOLUTION: The twisted yarn is composed of two or more kinds of filaments having different compositions and composed mainly of a biodegradable organic polymer and satisfies the requirements (a) and (b) at the same time. (a) The average diameter of the filament is≤5μm and (b) filament having a fiber diameter of≥10μm is essentially absent. The twisted yarn preferably further satisfies the requirement (c): the ratio of two or more kinds of filaments having different composition has a gradient structure varying from the center of the yarn to the peripheral part.
