A battery cover locking apparatus for a portable terminal is provided to be constructed by using a lower part of the portable terminal whose space usage rate is low and to position an exposed part at a bottom of the terminal such that the space usage rate of terminal parts can be improved, and its structure is advantageous in changing a design of the terminal. A battery cover locking apparatus for a portable terminal comprises a hooking member(210), a locking hole(110), and a push button unit(300). The hooking member(210) is provided in an inner face of a battery cover. The locking hole(110), formed at a rear face of a terminal housing, restricts the hooking member(210). The push button unit(300), installed at a lower part of the terminal housing, moves in a length direction of the terminal housing according to a push operation of a user, pushes the hooking member(210) restricted by the locking hole(110), and releases a restriction state of the battery cover.
