A photo detection device of an optical pickup is provided to allow a PDIC(Photo Detect IC) to receive a beam which is not accurately focused in the center by composing a relatively small cell size and a relatively high array number in the PDIC. A PDIC(28) is arranged as a PDIC size of at least four times or more and a cell array number of at least 12 or more to receive a reflective beam reflected from a disc(26) and detect the received reflective beam as an electric signal. Cells include 144 cells(28a). The PDIC is formed as a horizontal and vertical 12 array number respectively.
