摘要 <p>Methods for predicting and detecting silent cerebral infarction and ischemic stroke caused by hyperhomocysteinemia by using polymorphism of thymidylate synthase enhancer region(TSER) gene are provided to enhance the accuracy and convenience of prediction and detection by measuring the presence of alleles containing mutants represented by TSER 2R. The genetic factor for predicting and detecting silent cerebral infarction and ischemic stroke caused by hyperhomocysteinemia comprises the polymorphism of thymidylate synthase enhancer region gene, wherein the polymorphism is a repetitive sequence genotype of thymidylate synthase enhancer region promoter; the genotype is the allele containing TSER 2R(+); and the allele is selected from TSER 2R2R, TSER 2R3R, TSER 2R4R, TSER 2R5R and TSER 2R6R. The method for predicting and detecting silent cerebral infarction and ischemic stroke caused by hyperhomocysteinemia comprises the steps of: measuring the genotype of thymidylate synthase enhancer region from DNA extracted from a sample of a patient; and analyzing the polymorphism from the measured genotype.</p>
