An interior panel (20,120) for a motor vehicle provides a deployment door for an airbag assembly (32,132) supported behind the panel. The deployment door (24,124) has a peripheral end surface (29) connected to the surrounding panel substrate, the connection being formed by a knit line (30). The knit line is formed as a weak bond between the two components when the door is moulded in situ in the panel substrate. In this manner, a seamless deployment door (24) for an airbag assembly is provided with a clean and consistent appearance, while at the same time quickly and easily breaking free from the surrounding panel. |
