A method for packaging bracken in a retort container is provided to allow the packaged bracken to be directly used for cooking with no need for an additional swelling or boiling step, to facilitate transport and storage of bracken, and to maintain physical properties, taste and nutritional elements of bracken. The method for packaging bracken comprises the steps of: dipping dry bracken into water at room temperature for 10-60 minutes to allow the bracken to swell; packaging the swelled bracken in a retort container along with water in an amount of 6-15 times of the weight of the bracken; and sterilizing the packaged bracken under pressure at a temperature of 115-121 deg.C for 3-10 minutes, followed by quenching.
