An HFC(Hybrid Fiber Coax) LAN networking system and method through an HFC is provided to implement a function required for a DHCP server by databasing data required for management of HFC service subscribers and referring to it as necessary. An HFC LAN switch(300) converts a bi-directional communication frequency band of a cable LAN into an HFC network frequency band in order to provide a LAN service to a subscriber who is located in a remote area from the building of a distribution center(101). An HFC network(102) allows a subscriber to perform bi-directional communication from the HFC LAN switch(300) in the distribution center(101). An HFC LAN modem(700) performs bi-directional communication between the HFC LAN switch(300) and the subscriber through the HFC network(102).
