<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a brake pedal as a comfortable foot rest during operation of an automatic traveling device. <P>SOLUTION: When the automatic traveling device travels the vehicle in the state that the brake pedal is used as the foot rest, since stroke starting stepping force that the brake pedal starts a stroke is increased from f1 at non-operation (at usual time) of the automatic traveling device to f2 exceeding foot placement stepping force f0, not only comfortability as the foot rest can be enhanced by preventing movement of the brake pedal when the driver does not have intention of braking but also the driver can easily recognize that the automatic traveling device is during operation since the brake pedal is not moved during use as the foot rest. Further, the stroke can be performed when stepping force of the stroke starting stepping force f2 or higher is applied to the brake pedal during use as the foot rest, the brake pedal is quickly stepped-in at emergency to shorten a free running distance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
