PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air damper which is used to open and close a globe box or the like of an automobile and can prevent degradation in sealing performance due to thermal deformation of a piston even if being exposed to high-temperature atmospherics for a long time. SOLUTION: The air damper 10 is equipped with a cylinder 20, a seal cap 60, a rod 40 and a piston 50. The piston 50 and the rod 40 are molded integrally with elastic resin. The piston 50 is formed with a sealing protrusion 56. An inner circumferential of a portion adjacent to the seal cap 60 of the cylinder 20 is formed with a diameter enlarged potion 30. An inner circumferential of a portion ranging from a front end of the cylinder 20 to a portion approximately short of the seal cap 60 is formed with a diameter shortened portion 31. Between the diameter enlarged and shortened portions, a tapered portion 32 is formed. A seal protrusion 56 is located at the diameter enlarged potion 30 with the rod 40 fully thrust into the cylinder 10. Hence, the seal protrusion 56 is not pressed strongly to an inner circumferential of the diameter enlarged portion 30 to prevent the thermal deformation even if being exposed to a high-temperature atmosphere for a long time.
