<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device capable of accurately detecting a failure state of a particulate filter by providing a relatively simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: An auxiliary DPF 15 is arranged in the downstream side of a main DPF 14 and particulate amount GDPFS collected in the auxiliary DPF 15 is detected (S104). Moreover, particulate amount GDPFMF collected in the main DPF 14 is calculated (S107), and a particulate collection ratio CE by the main DPF 14 is calculated based on the particulate amount (S108).
