<p>A high-quality 4-methyl-1-pentene polymer (A) excellent in heat resistance, transparency, impact strength, etc.; a special 4-methyl-1-pentene polymer (B) having an isotactic diad content of 40-95% and excellent in flexibility, adhesion, heat resistance, and dispersibility in other resins; and a process for producing the polymers. The process for producing the 4-methyl-1-pentene polymers (A) and (B) comprises polymerizing either 4-methyl-1-pentene alone or 4-methyl-1-pentene and a C<SUB>2-20</SUB> olefin other than 4-methyl-1-pentene in a hydrocarbon solvent with the aid of a polymerization catalyst to obtain a polymer solution containing solid ingredients, separating and recovering therefrom the 4-methyl-1-pentene polymer (A) as a solid ingredient, and then separating and recovering the 4-methyl-1-pentene polymer (B) from the remaining polymer solution. The 4-methyl-1-pentene polymer (B) comprises 60-100 mol% 4-methyl-1-pentene units and 0-40 mol% units of the other olefin (the sum of 4-methyl-1-pentene units and other-olefin units is 100 mol%) and has an isotactic diad content of 40-95%.</p> |
