PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument capable of restraining ring design from getting conspicuous to enhance visibility of display design containing important information, and allowing display with modulation feeling. SOLUTION: This measuring instrument 1 for illuminating both the ring design and the display design, using a light source 23, has a translucent semitransmittable wall 201 extended from a diffusion plate 20 attached layeredly onto a reverse face of a dial 11 to diffuse light from the light source 23 and to emit it to the reverse face of the dial 11, along a direction opposite to the reverse face of the dial 11, and for weakening light resulting from the light source 23 to be transmitted, in order to reduce luminous energy of the light emitted from the light source 23 to be imparted to the ring design 16, and a reflection wall 191 extended from a case 19 toward the reverse face of the dial 11 in a degree not contacting with the reverse face, and for reflecting the light resulting from the light source 23 toward a prescribed direction, in order to reduce the luminous energy of the light emitted from the light source 23 to be imparted to the ring design 16.
