PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible that the folded case of a portable telephone can slide to open with either push button or manual operation. SOLUTION: Driving force of open direction is applied to pinion 2 interlocked with a rack 1 fixed to the upper case of the portable telephone by a driving spring 3. The pinion 2 is held in closed position with a movable pin for a lock 8 engaged in a slot 6 formed in the pinion 2. The movable pin for a lock 8 is disengaged from the slot 6 of the pinion 2 by a push button 7, or is released from the slot 6 of the pinion 2 by pushing the upper case 9 in the open direction slightly with finger. By any method of pushing button 7 or pushing the upper case 9 with finger, the upper case of a portable telephone can be made to slide to the extent of a complete opening automatically. The stroke length of the upper case can be adjusted by changing the gear ratio of two coupled gears, pinion 2 and the double gear 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
