PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve catalyst deterioration suppression effect by slowing progress of oxidation condition of a catalyst at a time of execution of fuel cut while avoiding fixing of a throttle valve in relation to a control device for an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: Fuel cut at a time of deceleration is performed. Throttle opening TA is instantaneously controlled to instantaneous allowable opening (0.43 deg) smaller than fixed allowable opening (1.20 deg) on a time t0 of establishment of fuel cut execution condition. After throttle opening is instantaneously controlled to the instantaneous allowable opening, throttle opening TA is controlled to gradually open to the fixed allowable opening.
