PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting device with a simple structure capable of surely holding an optical component without being affected on its optical performance, and to provide an optical apparatus including the position detecting device. SOLUTION: The position detecting device is equipped with a light emitting means, a light receiving means, a reflecting means 8 and a support member 4d moving while supporting the reflecting means, wherein light from the light emitting means is reflected by the reflecting means, and the reflected light is received by the light receiving means, and a movement position of the support member is detected based on an output form the light receiving means. In the support member, a planar section 4j is formed within a range of optical incidence onto the reflecting means, on the side opposite to the optical incidence side of the reflecting means so as to be spaced at a prescribed distance from the reflecting means, and fixing sections 4e, f, g and h for fixing the reflecting means are formed out of the range of the optical incidence onto the reflecting means.
