PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair cosmetic capable of freely controlling hair-dressing ability and hair-set retaining ability without excessively compounding an oily ingredient, excellent in spreadability on the hair and rinsability in washing the hair, having no sticky feeling, and combined with preparation stability in terms of temperature change. SOLUTION: The hair cosmetic as a composition for the hair contains (A) an oily ingredient and (B) a compound of the general formula (I) (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each H or methyl; and R<SP>3</SP>is H or a straight-chain or branched 1-10C alkyl).
