The aid has a receiver (R) that is made of a piezoelectric material, where a space between a ear drum (T) and the aid is filled with a liquid or flowable medium (F) e.g. gel, in a ear channel (O). The receiver is adjusted with respect to its acoustic impedance at the liquid or flowable medium. Transfer resistance of the liquid or the flowable medium is lesser than the air in the ear drum. An independent claim is also included for a method of operating a hearing aid.
