<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable accurate management of the location of articles used in a store through simple equipment and simple work. <P>SOLUTION: Every article used in a store, such as a POS terminal, a counter or a gondola, is provided with an article code indication medium 22 indicating an article management code including article identification information unique to the article. A communication terminal 4 has a code reading means capable of reading the article management code indicated on the article code indication medium. On a network accessible to the communication terminal, an article management server 11 is disposed to manage information on articles held in each store.
