A cost effective method for producing plastic molded items with programmed magnetic field p[patterns has particles of magnetic material added to the plastic preform and incorporated into the plastic by a moulding process. The trapped particles are subsequently magnetized with the selected pattern using permanent magnets or electromagnets. The viscocity of the plastic is between 103> and 109> Pa.
