An authentication maintaining handoff and traffic management method having a low delay characteristic in a wireless LAN(Local Area Network) is provided to be capable of decreasing unnecessarily duplicated messages in an authentication process through which a client passes when performing handoff, and of reducing a traffic load through a cache algorithm using priority. An AP(Access Point) accessed by a client includes authentication information, a list of neighboring APs, and priority in a cache-notify message to be previously delivered to caches of the neighboring APs, and transmits information on the client. The neighboring APs confirm self authentication tables, and record IDs of the neighboring APs. When the client is handed off, a new AP confirms an authentication table to send the cache-notify message to a neighboring AP only, which is not authenticated, to reduce duplicated messages. The AP before the handoff transmits a move-response message indicating to which AP the client is accessed, to a neighboring AP except the neighboring AP of the current AP among self neighboring APs.
|
