[PROBLEMS] To provide a cationically polymerizable polymer with which the viscosity of a composition can be regulated in a wide region of from several tens of mPa.s to several tens of Pa.s; and to provide a composition containing the polymer. The composition has excellent curability and gives a cured article which has satisfactory adhesion and excellent flexibility, is soft, and has excellent recovery from deformation at room temperature although it has a low modulus. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The polymer is one obtained from: at least one member selected from the group consisting of a maleic- modified polybutadiene, maleic-modified polyisoprene, hydroxylated polybutadiene, hydroxylated polyisoprene, hydroxylated ethylene/butylene copolymer, hydroxylated hydrogenated polybutadiene, and hydroxylated hydrogenated polyisoprene; and a compound of the formula (1).
