Drip emitters (6) are introduced at intervals into an extruded plastic tube (1) and seal against the inner wall. One of two chambers in each emitter connects with a hole produced in the wall by a laser beam(13). Lenses (16) guide the high energy beam and convert it into a ring shaped line (19) at a distance(a) from the lens. A small section (20) of wall is therefore cut out to form a hole.
