PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an acrylic copolymer, by which the acrylic copolymer having precisely controlled composition and mol.wt. and having excellent handleability can be produced. SOLUTION: This method for producing the copolymer, comprising copolymerizing a monomer mixture containing a carboxyl group-containing acrylic monomer to produce the carboxyl group-containing acrylic monomer unit-containing copolymer (A), is characterized by comprising the following two of a polymerization process (I) and a washing process (II). (I) The polymerization process: a process for copolymerizing the monomer mixture in an aromatic group-free organic solvent (B) dissolving the monomer mixture and having a copolymer (A) solubility of≤1 g/100 g to obtain a copolymer slurry. (II) The drying process: a process for spray-drying the copolymer slurry obtained in the polymerization process (I) by a specific method to obtain the copolymer (A). COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
