PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which enables accurate recording to be performed in a predetermined recording area on various types of indefinitely shaped recording media. SOLUTION: After the presence or absence of a document is determined (step S101), scanning is performed (step S102). An image taken in is displayed (step 104). A character and an image to be recorded are input in the predetermined recording area of the document 5 while the displayed captured image is watched (step S105). The document 5 is set in a printer part (step S106), and recording preprocessing is started (step S107). A scanner element, which is provided on the recording head, scans the document 5 (step S108). The recording is performed (step S110) while it is determined whether or not the document 5 corresponds to information on the captured image (step S109).
