A mixer (12) for a multi-component dental mass mixer (12) has chamber with discharge (10) through a duct unit driven by a plunger (14). The unit has an adjustment mechanism (13) that alters the relative distance (18) between the duct and the plunger. The assembly adjusts the distance between the free end (62) of the plunger (14) and the duct by adjusting the plunger length. The unit is partly automated.
