PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zinc-containing phosphor which is difficult in causing deterioration with time when driving it in various uses, retaining a high light-emitting efficiency regardless of the length of an emission time and to provide a PDP using the phosphor. SOLUTION: In the distribution of this Mn-activated phosphor, the Zn concentration at a point P2 positioning about 0.6μm depth from the surface, is higher than those at both points P1 and P3 which are a surface point and a central point of the particle, respectively. The resultant phenomenon is different from that of a comparatively exemplified zinc-containing phosphor whose Zn concentration is heightened in the order of a point P11, point P12 and point P13, thus making the concentration more higher at the central part.
