PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device which permits the lessening of a load on a thermal head and can create a touch and a texture of printed matter when all printing lines are overcoated every time each line is printed. SOLUTION: Overcoat layer areas 6d, 6e and 6f for three sheets provided in an ink ribbon 6 are formed in a length permitting thermal transfer in three times to a printed portion 6r, and the number of print dots necessary for printing an overcoat over the printed portion 6r through rows of the heating elements 7a of the thermal head 7 are split by the three sheets of the overcoat layer areas 6d, 6e and 6f, and overcoat layers are thermally transferred to the printed portion 6r by performing heating driving to the rows of the heating elements 7a in three times in accordance with the number of split print dots.
