A shaft wrapping and button sewing machine of known type as per with a wind thread enabling button separately carrying a button and a cloth also has a pair of guides removable within the opening and lying opposite the holder while being arranged such that an intermediate space between the guides forms a threading part narrower than the swivel width so as to allow insertion of the button sewing thread. This allows the control unit for each drive to be localized near the button and near the guide pair around the needle on both sides of the thread, thus forming the shaft wrapping stitch.
