PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back light unit of a liquid crystal display device such that a fluorescent tube is never broken even if a light guide plate falls for some reason such as a shock. SOLUTION: The back light unit is arranged below the liquid crystal display module LCD and equipped with the fluorescent tube 2 as a light source for light to be made incident on the LCD, a lamp reflector 3 which houses the fluorescent tube 2, and a mold frame housing a light guide plate 1 with a nearly quadrangular surface which converts linear light emitted from the fluorescent tube 2 and light reflected by the lamp reflector 3 into figure light and makes it incident on the LCD. The lamp reflector 3 is made of metal, and includes a stopper 35 at a 1st portion 31 facing both ends of a flank of the light guide plate 1 facing the fluorescent tube 2 at a position closer to the light guide plate 1 than to a 2nd portion 32 facing the flank of the light guide plate 1 except the 1st portion 31.
