PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating an emergency water purifying apparatus capable of simply washing a RO (reverse osmosis) membrane and easily restarting water purification treatment operation in view of blocking off in an early stage in this case in which normally water to be treated subjected to RO membrane treatment uses water sufficiently clarified in a pretreatment part 20, and introducing raw water into the RO membrane treatment part 17 directly to obtain clarified water when the pretreatment part 20 is damaged. SOLUTION: The RO membrane of the RO membrane treatment part 17 is placed in a longitudinal direction and a concentrated polluted water discharge line 38 is provided on the bottom face 17b of the RO membrane treatment part 17. A water level is decreased (or increase or decrease) by introducing air into the RO membrane treatment part 17 and discharging water from the line 38.
