<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an new optical receptacle, wherein connection loss is reduced and the size of an optical module can be made smaller. <P>SOLUTION: A stub (10) which is to be connected to an optical fiber (17) in an optical connector, is constituted so that an internal rod (6), where a grated index lens rod (3) having a refractive index distribution, in which the refractive index is reduced gradually, starting from the central axis to the outer periphery, and a transparent rod (2) are arranged serially, is held by a ferrule (1).
