LIGHTING SYSTEM WITH AIR CLEANING FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a versatile lighting system with an air cleaning function generating negative ions only by replacing a light source itself without replacing an existing luminaire.

SOLUTION: A light source P such as a lamp or a fluorescent lamp attached to a luminaire such as an existing lamp socket or fluorescent lamp stand is formed by an integrated structure of arc tubes V and a negative ion generator S. The light source P comprises: an inverter circuit mechanism part Q with a base R; a plurality of U-shaped arc tubes V each composed by connecting both electrode terminal parts thereof to the inverter circuit mechanism part Q in a form annularly arranged along one another; and the negative ion generator S arranged among the U-shaped arc tubes V. The negative ion generator S is composed by attaching a carbon cluster fiber 6 having a closed shell type huge molecular structure such as a fullerene C60to a discharging electrode 5 dischargeable by a pulse voltage.
