PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device recognition method for a computer system providing access to a device implemented with a service of system firmware but which cannot be accessed due to limitations of an OS loader when accessing the device via the service of the system firmware at an initial stage of an operating system. SOLUTION: The system firmware 0 has a step of notifying model information and mounted position information of I/O devices 10-1N to the operating system 2 by using device configuration information, a step of suitably rewriting device information tables 01-0N, and a step of having the operating system 2 recognize an unreal virtual device as if it really exists.
