PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin retardation film which can develop desired retardation. SOLUTION: The retardation film comprises a cyclic olefin polymer, wherein the cyclic olefin polymer has 1.5 to 4 swell ratio (SR) measured by using a capillary rheometer under the conditions of 10 (s-1) shear speed at a temperature higher by 120°C than the glass transition temperature of the cyclic olefin polymer.
