PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To strengthen the weakest part due to having the possibility of becoming the weakest part in response to thinning in an outer peripheral recessed round part of an outside joint member of a tripod type constant velocity universal joint. SOLUTION: A surface hardening processing layer 41a is formed on an outer peripheral surface including at least the recessed round part 10a of the outside joint member 10 by a method such as quenching, shot blast or shot peening.
