PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord for rubber reinforcement, having a three-layer twist structure and capable of improving corrosion resistance and productivity while keeping the merits of multi-layer twist steel cord comprising high cord strength and good fatigue resistance, and to provide a pneumatic radial tire produced by using the cord as the reinforcing material. SOLUTION: The steel cord for rubber reinforcement is composed of a core 1 composed of a single core filament, a 1st sheath 2 composed of 6 sheath filaments wound around the core 1, a 2nd sheath 3 composed of 12 sheath filaments wound around the 1st sheath 2 and a wrap filament 4 spirally wound around the 2nd sheath 3.
