<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lateral electric field type liquid crystal device, capable of obtaining display of high quality on both reflection display and transparency display, having flexibility of design change and capable of easily coping with application to various apparatuses. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device 100 is a transparent reflection type liquid crystal device provided with a TFT array substrate 10 and a counter substrate 20 which are facingly arranged through a liquid crystal layer 50 and having a reflection display area for performing reflection display and a transparent display area for performing transparent display within a single dot area. A pixel electrode 9 and a common electrode 19 which apply an electric field of an approximate substrate plane direction to the liquid crystal layer 50 in the dot area are arranged on the liquid crystal layer side of the TFT array substrate 10 and a reflection part dielectric film 17 is formed in the reflection display area R. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
