The invention concerns an arrangement in a sizing press that includes a nip N formed by press rolls 12, 14, through which a paper or cardboard web W is made to run and in which sizing press the first press roll 12 is mounted by means of bearings 13 fixed on body 11 of the sizing press and the second press roll 14 by means of its bearing 15 is mounted on the body 11 of the sizing press to move by means of loading force or the like. Press rolls 12, 14 are provided with coating devices to spread films of coating substance over the surface of said roll, the coating arrangements being mounted on transverse application beams 20 of the machine, which are supported to pivot on the body of the sizing press or under the loading force of the moving roll 14. The application beams are provided with cutoff cylinders 22 with which the application beams 20 can be opened and closed relative to rolls 12, 14 and are additionally provided with bars 30, 31, said application bars being arranged to be directly or indirectly supported against bearings 13, 15 of rolls 12, 14 opposite them when closed with cutoff cylinders 22.
