PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend battery life for a battery-operated home fire alarm having a plurality of alarm means by providing fire alarms in such a manner as to reduce power consumption during fire alarms. SOLUTION: The home fire alarm having a plurality of alarm means that provide alarms either by means of acoustic sounding such as a buzzer and a voice message or an indication by an operation indicator lamp or the like is provided with a timer for counting a predetermined time since the detection of a fire or since test sounding. Further, a setting means is provided for setting the modes of an alarm means during timer counting and of the main power of alarming and for setting the modes of the alarm means after the timer counting and of the main power of alarming. It is set in advance to change the number of the alarm means and the mode of alarm outputs so that after the timer counting power consumption is smaller than that in the timer counting. Alternatively, it is set in advance to issue an alarm by switching to the alarm means that consumes less power than that in the timer counting. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
